Merlin Adaptive Operations

AI log analytics that keeps the evidence in view

Merlin is designed to reduce the distance between raw log data and an engineer’s understanding of what changed, which systems are involved and what deserves attention first.

What AI changes in log analysis

Conventional log search starts with a query. That works well when an engineer already knows the host, field, service or error string to look for. During a complex incident, however, the difficult part is often deciding which evidence matters and how apparently separate events are related.

AI-assisted analysis can help by summarising repeated patterns, grouping related evidence and providing a conversational layer over the investigation. Merlin’s design goal is to use that assistance without treating a generated explanation as a substitute for the source telemetry.

From event volume to useful signals

Operational environments produce large quantities of normal events. Merlin is intended to help narrow that volume by looking for meaningful changes, timing relationships and abnormal behaviour. The result should be a smaller set of evidence that an engineer can inspect and challenge.

Questions the workflow is built around

  • What changed immediately before the service degraded?
  • Which hosts or services show the same pattern?
  • Did one error precede the others, or are they independent symptoms?
  • Is the behaviour isolated, repeated or spreading?
  • Which evidence supports the proposed next action?

AI assistance, not invisible automation

For operational work, explainability matters. Merlin’s product direction is therefore centred on surfacing the relevant logs and relationships alongside the analysis, so the operator can validate an interpretation before acting on it.
